The hishi (also referred to as diamond) pattern in Shibari is a popular pattern and can be tied using several techniques. Not only is it pretty but also functional. When used in a harness, it divides the body diagonally which makes the tie adjust to the body better and spreads the pressure of the ropes more evenly on the whole tie. Once you understand the principle you can incorporate them in futomomos, chest harnesses, body binders and leg binders.
